Interesting to note is the quality of photo scenery used by aerosoft etc at payware airports like LOWI etc. And something different to look at anyway. I've converted a lot of Aime Leclercq's 1024 to 4096 FSX textures to fs9 size and they look fantastic. Lot less repeated tiles so gives a great realistic view of the ground even at lower then FSX resolution. Most fs9 scenery back in the day was passable, but there are plenty of better stuff that came available like GePro and VOZ etc.Īnd of course Sascha's EVO is sensational. I think it depends on the resolution of the raw image before you convert it to FS bitmap format, you can't take an existing low-res bitmap and convert it to high-res.Ī point to remember too is how good is the original texture/photo being used? You could use a 4096 x 4096 FSX tile or use its scenery converted into fs9 but it may not be better then the fs9 original at only 256 x 256.Īlthough the higher res if it IS a quality photo or texture, reduced to a size fs9 can use, will most likely be better due to the superior image quality being used originally.
Clearly it IS possible, but the accepted wisdom is that image resolution is governed by pixel area 1024x1024 pixels is higher resolution than 512x512 pixels.
